Look at the photo and use your imagination to create a story that explains what is present in the photo. Consider the following questions:
- What does this photo look like?
- Who/What is doing what? Why? Where?
- How might an ancient civilization have explained it?
Do you see the outstretched hands?
- What are they reaching for?
- Who are they reaching to?
- What happened that the person’s hands were frozen in time?
Meet in small groups and come up with creative explanations for these photos. What “action” led to formation or phenomenon? The explanation will be the basis of your story. Create a myth that explains how the “structure” was created.
He couldn’t stop … and so his hands stayed frozen….as …..
An explanation is not a complete story. Now you need to build the rest of the story. Why did the action take place? For example:
Beginning: The giant was mad at his brother for stealing his food.
Action: The rock is in the middle of the ocean because a giant threw it.
End: The rock landed in the ocean and stayed there forever.
Now it is your turn. Finish the story.
